Detoxifying Through Food
Foods to enjoy:
Brown Rice
- To prepare, rinse the rice and place in a pot with twice the amount of water (than the rice). Bring to a boil, and then turn down to a simmer with lid on it for 45-60 minutes. Do not stir. You may add spices or herbs s/as rosemary, oregano and thyme, or onions while it is cooking. Brown rice pasta, rice cakes, rice crackers and plain rice milk are also an option and can be purchased in any health food store
Other grains
- Substitute brown rice with quinoa, amaranth, teff, millet, buckwheat, kamut, spelt, triticale, can be used instead of rice.
Vegetables
- Any fresh or raw vegetables (except for corn, mushrooms or any known allergens) may be eaten. They may be raw, steamed or baked. Great detox foods include beets, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, garlic, artichokes, watercress, garlic, leeks, shallots, mustard greens, beet greens, collard, kale, swiss chard, sprouts, sea vegetables, daikon radish, turnips.
